Deep Fried Oreos

These are a real treat! I never really fry anything all year long, but during Chanukah, there is no holding me back! You can easily make them parve by substituting almond milk and using parve oreos. They’re absolutely irresistrible both ways. Dust them with plenty of confectioners sugar, and if you’re feeling extra indulgent, top with ice cream!

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 package Oreo Cookies
  • Canola or Vegetable Oil for frying
  • Confectioners sugar

Prepare the batter. Whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla. Add sugar. Add flour and baking powder. Whisk until smooth, some lumps are fine.

Heat the oil in a deep fryer or small pot over medium heat. Test oil by dropping a bit of batter into it. It should sizzle and the batter should float to the top.

Working with one Oreo at a time, dip the cookie into the batter with the help of a fork, allow the excess to drip off, and slowly and carefully place into the hot oil. Do NOT drop it or the oil will splatter. Depending upon the size of your pot, you can fry 4 or 5 Oreos at once.

Fry until golden brown on each side, and place carefully on a paper towel lined dish. Enjoy immediately!
