Hello, summer! If you take the traditional spring cleaning route and de-clutter your home, you just might notice amidst all the dusting and shining, that your home is starting to look a bit boring. Summertime can encourage a cleaner, brighter, fresher perspective on your space. It’s a great time of year to evaluate how you live and consider ways to update and refresh your home.
Try one or a few of these simple and affordable ideas, and see for yourself how a few small changes can impact the look of an entire room.
Add bursts of bright color, energetic patterns, and lively springtime motifs to the walls of your home to effortlessly transition it into spring.
Repainting your walls in a fresh color is easy and affordable. Some spring colors are surprisingly versatile like playful neutrals and pastels. You can also just repaint one main wall in a room in a different hue and it will refresh and modernize the entire room.
Add fresh, pretty wallpaper to the back of a linen closet or cabinet. It’s a quick hit of pretty every time you open the doors.
Let Spring bloom indoors. Even if you have no space for a greenhouse or garden, just fill up a vintage (or new) bar cart with tons of spring pots and trailing plants. Greenery adds great color and texture to any corner.
Floral artwork is also a great way to add a springy touch to any room. To keep it sophisticated, add a piece with a more modern or over sized print.
REFRESH ACCENT PIECES
Create a casual living room that sings “spring” and brims with juicy citrus colors. Add brightly colored vases, spunky patterned pillows and rugs. If you are on a tight budget or just don’t want to spend a fortune visit your local flea market or outlet home store for some great finds.
Resurface the dresser top with a beautiful display area for art, decorative boxes, and a few vintage pieces.
No one likes to look at a dark, empty fireplace. For spring, fill it with something unexpected like a sculptural piece of coral or a few sparkly agates.
Mix some colorful and exotic plates and bowls with standard white ware. It adds great energy and spice to spring dinner parties. Plates in unexpected colors make a fresh wall arrangement too. Vary hues (within a family), sizes and textures while placing the most dramatic plate toward the center.
Sometimes all you need is just one pop of color. Select a theme color and purchase a few new accessories in that shade. A pair of lamps or a few pillows on a sofa will automatically brighten up the room with charm.
So start planning, collecting and decorating you’ll never regret giving your space a little sprucing to reflect the new season!
